Both proteins and peptides are made up of amino acids, but peptides contain far fewer amino acids than proteins. Like proteins, peptides are naturally present in foods.

The most popular peptides include collagen peptides for anti-aging and skin health. Peptides are short strings of amino acids, typically comprising 2–50 amino acids. Amino acids are also the building blocks of proteins, but proteins contain more. Collagen peptides, which benefit skin health and reverse the effects of aging.

Collagen is a protein in the skin, hair, and nails. Collagen peptides are broken down collagen proteins that the body can absorb more easily. Taking collagen peptides may improve skin health and slow the aging process. Peptides may stimulate the production of melanin, a skin pigment, which may improve the skin’s protection against sun damage.

Skin products that contain collagen peptides can treat skin wrinkles. Other research indicates that these supplements may also improve skin elasticity and hydration, reduce wrinkles, help skin firming, and increase blood flow and may facilitate faster-wound healing.

Can peptides penetrate the skin?

While collagen molecules are too large to penetrate the skin, peptides are small enough to penetrate the skin, and when applied topically, they signal the skin to repair itself.

Are peptides or retinol better?

Retinoids are more potent, but over-the-counter retinoids penetrate the skin better. At least one study shows that prescription tretinoin is 20 times stronger than over-the-counter retinol, which in turn is another 20 times stronger than retinyl palmitate (Clinics in Dermatology, 2001). The best is to alternate a cream or serum with Retinol and cream or serum loaded with peptides.

Can you use peptides and hyaluronic acid together?

Peptides are not recommended to be used simultaneously with AHA-acids – (acidic pH is undesirable for peptides), and peeling should be done prior to using peptides. With the help of a face serum with peptidesyou can increase the effectiveness of products with niacinamide, various moisturizing ingredients, vitamin C.

Using both copper peptides and Vitamin C can be a great way to protect and rejuvenate the skin; however, it is important to use them correctly as the copper peptides can cause the Vitamin C to become inactive. … Apply a copper peptide serum, or moisturizer, by gently patting it onto the skin.

The massively talked about active ingredient Syn-ake® works like Botox, by inhibiting the release of neurotransmitters which cause facial muscle tension (fine lines & wrinkles). With the muscle contraction inhibited, fine lines and wrinkles are visibly reduced. So a bit like the action of Botox – without the needles and pain. Syn-ake® is scientifically and clinically proven to reduce wrinkle depth and quickly! Add to this the other wrinkle busting ingredients and you can declare war on your wrinkles and frown lines.

I’m Fabulous Cosmetics Super peptide eye serum is lightweight, effective, efficient, unique. Peptides in this unique suspension stimulate collagen 1, collagen 111, and elastin fibroblasts. This stimulation supports the healing and repair response in the skin, increases skin thickness, refines the appearance of wrinkles, evens skin tone and texture, and restores elasticity and firmness to the skin. Hyaluronic Acid, periwinkle, licorice, and MSM ensure that deep penetration below the upper dermal layers transforms crepe paper skin into healthy, resilient, and firm skin around your eyes. For more details.

Dry and dehydrated skins have similar characteristics, but different underlying reasons. Dry skin will make you look older and make wrinkles and fine lines appear more.

Dry Skin – normally a skin type but can be a temporary skin condition

  • caused by lack of oil in the skin
  • small pores
  • tight feeling
  • flaky
  • milia, blackheads and sp, ts may still be present
  • skin looks dull
  • skin is not plump
  • doesn’t absorb products easily
  • easily irritated – more likely to suffer reactions to products
  • aggravated by poor skincare

Dehydrated Skin – is a skin condition affecting any skin type – including DRY

  • caused by lack of water in the skin
  • pores can be large or small
  • skin feels tight and dry although it can confusingly sometimes look oily and have breakouts
  • absorbs moisturisers really quickly
  • blackheads and spots are still visible
  • makeup disappears

Did you know that the skin is made up of 70% water – around  20-30% of that is in the epidermis (top layer of the skin). In normal circumstances, your hydrolipidic film acts as a regulator and barrier which retaining moisture and protecting against germs.

For whatever reason that is compromised, the moisture in the epidermis evaporates too quickly and the normal, healthy state of the skin is compromised.

Any and all of the following can cause dehydration – standby!:

  1. Environment – wind, cold air, dry air, too much sun, air conditioning, central heating
  2. Diet – the wrong foods, alcoholcaffeine, not eating enough water-heavy foods, not drinking enough
  3. Lifestyle – stress, poor skincare routine, using the wrong products, medication – including birth control, smoking
  4. Genetics – monthly cycle, pregnancy

It is quite common to be both dry and dehydrated but if by looking at the above you have ascertained that you are one or the other – these do’s and don’t might help.

DO

  • Moisturize morning and night
  • Add hyaluronic acid to your routine
  • Use balms, oils and serums for dry skin.
  • Use oils and treatments for dehydrated.
  • We love the Hydrating Rose Water Organic (This amazing rosewater is loaded with raw ingredients. Has no water or alcohol. _Only hydrating pure raw ingredients!)
  • Eat food with omega like salmon, olive oil and avocados
  • Buy a humidifier

DO NOT

Stay away from mineral oils, silicones (in skincare – not makeup), lanolins and synthetic fragrance which will make a dehydrated skin worse and make a dry skin even drier.

Do not use soap but instead cleanser oils or hydrating cleansers

Flax or fish oil supplements will help both dry and dehydrated skins. It takes about 3 to 4 months to see the benefits on your skin.

Science has proven that peptides can help manage wrinkles in your skin and reverse the signs of aging. So how do peptides in skin care products make your skin look younger?

Did you know that our skin is comprised mostly of collagen? Collagen is a protein comprised of long segments of amino acids arranged like a chain.

  • Collagen provides a foundation and thickness of skin
  • Women under 30 have ample collagen, which results in smooth, tight skin
  • The rest of us have less collagen –  skin tends to be thinner, revealing more wrinkles

When collagen breaks down, short segments of amino acids are formed. These are the tiny proteins and active molecules known as peptides. Peptides in skin care can provide significant anti-aging benefits.

Peptides consist of chains of amino acids linked to each other by amide bonds, also known as peptide bonds.

What Is the Difference Between a Peptide and a Protein?

One important protein in our skin is collagen. Collagen gives our skin its thickness and suppleness. When collagen breaks down in the skin (from age and environmental factors like the sun and stress), wrinkles form. Peptides applied topically to the skin can send a signal to collagen to prompt the formation of new collagen, you have the appearance of more youthful, supple skin.

Sunbathing and sun exposure can put you at risk for serious medical problems. Damage to the skin, including abnormal discoloration, wrinkling, or skin cancer, can result from overexposure to the sun.

You better off using bronzer oil and creams to look tan then actually sunbathing. At the end, you will want to spend thousands of dollars trying to fix your skin with lightening skin serums, skin peels or laser treatments.

To protect itself from the damaging effects of the sun, your skin increases its production of the dark brown pigment called melanin. The extra melanin makes your skin look darker or sun-tanned. In some cases, the sun causes an uneven increase in melanin production, which produces irregular coloring (pigmentation) of the skin. The sun can also cause a permanent stretching of small blood vessels, giving your skin a mottled, reddish appearance.

Melanin is the dark brown pigment in the top layer of skin (epidermis) that gives skin its color. This pigment protects the deeper layers of skin from sun damage. The more melanin in the skin, the darker the skin appears and the more protection it has against sun damage.

People with medium or dark complexions naturally have more protection than do people with lighter complexions. But they still can experience sun damage. This man’s face shows signs of sun damage — increased areas of irregular pigmentation and wrinkles.

To help stop or even reverse sun damage to the skin:

Exfoliate. The buildup of stratum corneum (the dead, outermost skin cell layer) can make skin appear blotchy and uneven. Also, remnants of self-tanning products can collect in typically dry areas (such as the elbows), causing the skin to lose its luster and appear “dirty.” Loofahs, scrubs, alpha hydroxy acid (AHA)* cleansers, and home microdermabrasion kits (in which tiny crystals are sprayed on the skin) can remove dead skin cells, leaving skin looking smoother.

Use sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher. Sunscreen is one of the keys to radiant, youthful-looking skin. Daily use may even lower your long-term risk of skin cancer. By reducing your daily sun exposure, sunscreen allows your skin time to heal and your immune system the chance to repair some existing damage.

Stay away from the sun as much as possible especially for a longer period of time.
