Turmeric has been considered as one of the most beneficial home treatments for skin issues. The excellent healing ability of it is simply the best. It has the ability to prevent unnecessary bacterial growth.

To make the best use of it, you need to make a paste to apply. Use 3 tablespoons of turmeric powder with olive oil. Mix them properly with each other and apply this useful paste on the affected area. Then wait for an hour. Afterward, rinse the skin with water. We sincerely expect it to cure your skin inflammation.

Why Make Your Own Toothpaste?

Many mainstream brands of toothpaste contain harmful or even toxic ingredients such as:

  • Triclosan, a pesticide and hormone disruptor.
  • Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) which causes canker sores for many people.
  • Artificial colorings, which are linked to ADHD and hyperactivity in children. Toothpaste does not need to be blue!
  • Fluoride, which can be toxic if swallowed and doesn’t even work in toothpaste.
  • Titanium dioxide, which is added to make a toothpaste white. Most of the data shows it’s safe and is not absorbed by the skin, but I have yet to find a study done to measure absorption by oral tissues. The EWG has a good list of safety concerns around titanium dioxide, but the take-home message: it’s just there to make toothpaste white, not improve your health. So why bother with it?
  • Glycerin, which isn’t toxic, but has no place in the mouth as it’s a soap that strips your body’s natural oral mucosa and leaves a film. This film could coat the teeth, messing with the structure of the biofilm which could alter the microbiome in the mouth and impact the natural remineralization process — your body’s natural cavity-fighting mechanism.
  • Highly abrasive ingredients, which damage enamel, making teeth sensitive and more prone to gum recession and cavities. Toothpaste should be only a little bit abrasive — this graininess aids the brushing motion to remove the biofilm of the tooth.

I love smoothies and figure they’re pretty healthy. After all, they’re mostly fruit, sometimes even with some leafy greens and protein.

But I have friends who won’t touch the stuff, saying smoothies have so much sugar they’re basically candy. What’s the deal? Aren’t smoothies healthy?

Here one of my favorite recipe!

I always like to try new recipes and eat different healthy meals.

This recipe creates an absolutely beautifully pink raspberry swirl smoothie by creating a deep pink layer using pitaya/dragon fruit. A simple smoothie that you can make as exciting as you want with whatever toppings you’d like to use.

For the smoothie base:

  • Half a pitaya (the pink pitaya to get the dark pink color)
  • Half cup frozen raspberries (to get the light pink color)
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds (optional)
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk (or your choice of milk)

  1. Blend all the ingredients except the pitaya in a blender.
  2. Take a quarter of the mixture and put in your smoothie bowl.
  3. Add the pink pitaya to the blender and blend the rest to get the darker pink.
  4. Add to the bowl and top with whatever you like.

I topped with the two Pitaya sisters and some edible flowers

What is kombucha? It is a sweetened tea that is fermented with a symbiotic colony of bacteria and yeast. The name supposedly originates from a Japanese physician named Kombu, who first brought the drink to Japan from China, and the word “cha,” which means “tea” in Japanese.

  • Skincare – Because kombucha is a fermented product, the nutrients are broken down and more easily absorbed by the skin. For people with sensitive skin, it may help with less irritation than other products because of fewer preservatives. Due to the probiotic, enzymatic, and acidic concentration, a benefit for acne and rosacea may also be seen.
  • Digestive health – Most people choose to drink kombucha because it contains probiotics, which may help improve digestion. It can also possibly remove harmful candida yeast from the gut.
  • Detoxification – Kombucha can also have a detoxifying effect on the body because it is rich in enzymes and acids, which can aid your pancreas and liver. Some people claim that its detoxifying powers, along with other lifestyle changes, have even helped to ward off disease.
  • Immune health – This fermented tea also contains antioxidants, which are known to give your immune system a boost. Since it also contains B and C vitamins, it’s an especially welcome pick-me-up during the winter months when cold and flu rates are at their highest.
  • Joint health – Kombucha also contains glucosamine, an amino sugar that is said to both repair and prevent joint damage by preserving collagen in the joints. This can be especially helpful for people with arthritis.

Kombucha has been touted as an elixir for almost 2,000 years – and we don’t think its popularity will be going away anytime soon.

Some call it mushroom tea or “elixir of life,” but no matter what you call it, kombucha is one of the hottest trends in health beverages. The fermented tea drink has been around for centuries but recently became popular in the U.S. because of its purported health benefits. Regular drinkers of the tonic claim it aids digestion, sleepweight loss and detoxification; stimulates the immune system, prevents cancer, stops hair loss, and improves liver function.

I personally just switch from drinking wine to Kombucha only, I serve it in a martini glass with fruits and it is delicious and a bit bubbly! Kombucha and lots of sleep will also increase your testosterone level and libido.

My Kombucha Recipe:

1. Combine hot water and sugar in a glass jar. Stir until the sugar dissolves. The water should be hot enough to steep the tea but does not have to be boiling.

2. Place the tea or tea bags in the sugar water to steep.

NOTE: Using a metal tea ball to contain loose tea for making kombucha is acceptable. The tea ball should be removed before adding the SCOBY and starter tea, so the tea ball will not come into contact with the SCOBY.

3. Cool the mixture to 68-85ºF. The tea may be left in the liquid as it cools or removed after the first 10-15 minutes. The longer the tea is left in the liquid, the stronger the tea will be.

4. Remove the tea bags or completely strain the loose tea leaves from the liquid.

5. Add starter tea from a previous batch to the liquid. If you do not have starter tea, distilled white vinegar may be substituted.

6. Add an active kombucha SCOBY.

7. Cover the jar with a tight-weave towel or coffee filter and secure it with a rubber band.

8. Allow the mixture to sit undisturbed at 68-85°F, out of direct sunlight, for 7-30 days, or to taste. The longer the kombucha ferments, the less sweet and more vinegary it will taste.

9. Pour kombucha off the top of the jar for consumption. Retain the SCOBY and enough liquid from the bottom of the jar to use as starter tea for the next batch.

10. The finished kombucha can be flavored and bottled if desired or enjoyed plain.

One-Quart Batch:

1½ teaspoon loose tea OR 2 tea bags

 ¼ cup sugar

 2-3 cups water

½ cup starter tea or vinegar

Half-Gallon Batch:

1 tablespoon loose tea OR 4 tea bags

 ½ cup sugar

 6-7 cups water

1 cup starter tea or vinegar

Gallon Batch:

2 tablespoons loose tea OR 8 tea bags

 1 cup sugar

 13-14 cups water

2 cups starter tea or vinegar

Also known as pitaya, these fun-looking fruits contain around 60 calories each and are rich in numerous nutrients, including vitamin C, B vitamins, phosphorus, protein, calcium, fiber, and antioxidants. Dragon fruits are proven to lower blood sugar levels as well as blood pressure, strengthen bones and teeth, promote healthy blood and tissue formation, strengthen the immune system, heal bruises and wounds faster and prevent respiratory problems.

Eating dragon fruit can help the body maintain such normal function as ridding the body of toxic heavy metals and improved eyesight. Like other red fruits, dragon fruit contains lycopene, which helps protect against cancer and heart disease.

The flavor is mildly sweet, like a blend of kiwi and pear, and it has a crunchy texture. It’s so  refreshing.

Dragon fruits may not be readily available at your neighborhood grocery, but you can usually find them in Chinatowns around the country. When choosing a dragon fruit, look for a specimen with bright, evenly colored skin. If it has too many brown blotches, or if it has a dry, shriveled stem, it’s probably overripe. If the fruit is very firm, let it ripen a few days until the flesh gives slightly.

How can all these benefits be taken advantage of in this visually beautiful, exotic fruit? While it may seem a little strange at first, it’s easy to get to the fruit. Simply slice lengthwise and either scoop out the flesh or quarter it and peel back the leathery skin. The flesh inside can be white or red, depending on the variety. It’s best eaten chilled, chopped into cubes and added to fruit salad or blended into a refreshing drink or smoothie.

  • 2 frozen banans
  • ½ dragon fruit, peeled
  • 4 large strawberries
  • ¼ cup coconut milk
  • ½ lime juiced
  • Toppings:
  • 3 dragon fruit slices
  • 1 tsp pumpkin seeds
  • ½ tsp shredded coconut
  • 5 grapes halved
  • 1 plum halved
  • raspberries & strawberries
